Merging

11Mar08

Not another post about marriage and my pending nuptials - I’m terrified of turning into a wedding bore as it is, this is infact an open letter to my fellow Angelenos who could learn a thing or two about merging when driving. Lacking the photoshop skills of Transplanting Me I had to ‘borrow’ the above [...]

This Saturday - a few friends and I all went to see The Goonies at Angel City drive-in! I think most if not all of the real drive-in’s in California have been long demolished. This ‘Drive In’ organised by LA’s own Derby Dolls was on top roof of a car park - complete with a [...]

Fame At Last!

I nearly missed this in my inbox today.. it’s not much but it brought a smile to my day!

Johnny Grant, the jolly honorary mayor of Hollywood who traveled the world as Tinseltown’s chief ambassador for more than a half-century, has died. He was 84. Grant died Wednesday evening of natural causes in his 14th floor suite at the Hollywood Roosevelt Hotel. Funeral arrangements were incomplete, but Grant had told staff he wanted his [...]

My friends have arrived! Now its time to put all my long hours prep into action.. despite the jetlag (them), endless snot (me), being tanked up on cold medicine (me) and lost ATM card (me), I think we will have fun.

I spent most of the day researching for two of my closests friends upcoming visit on 3rd January. Ellen flies in on the second to last leg of her round the world trip from New Zealand and Michael will be flying in from the opposite direction from the UK. I cycled on my new [...]

Leaving LA makes me nervous. Normally I do not venture past Los Angeles County unless I am leaving the country to fly to the UK. Earlier this year we did drive to Santa Clarita and it really weirded me out. I think there is something about being out in the remoteness of the desert that [...]

I’m so glad you could visit. I have a lot planned for today and it’s just as well you came on a day when the sun is shining! Just kidding, the sun is always shining - this is Southern California after all. I like to start early so it’s good you came at 7am - [...]

”A dreaded sunny day, so let’s go where we’re happy, and I’ll meet you at the cemetery gates, Oh Keats and Yeats are on your side” Cemetery Gates - The Smiths.

My favourite place in Hollywood is a cemetery called Hollywood Forever - how goth is that?! It’s an incredible place, a little oasis in the concrete jungle [...]

Since October 2006 I have lived in Redondo Beach, California. Part of Los Angeles county, Redondo is a small beach city with a population of around 63,000 in an area of 6.35 square miles. Redondo has two miles of beautiful sandy beach that are hugged by the Redondo Beach Pier and King Harbour area, and [...]
